God's Will is Healing
āFor I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,ā says the Lordā¦.
āJeremiah 30:17
GodāThe Great Restorer
God is a great restorer! It does not matter how long you have been sick. It does not matter how long your body has gone in the wrong direction. It doesnāt matter what physical attack has come against your life. Your physical body can turn around and go in the right direction! Your health can be restored! If your body could go in the wrong direction, it could also go in the right direction. Couldnāt it? There is no physical condition that is so far gone that itās beyond the Lordās reach.
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.
āIsaiah 59:1
God wants to restore your health. Even if the devil has found a way into your life somehow and has managed to steal years or even decades of your health, you can still be restored! Perhaps others have prayed for you in the past and maybe you did not receive healing, or maybe things did not work out the way you had hoped, but I want you to know this: the will of God for you has not changed! If you did not receive healing before, it simply means that you did not receive. That is all that it means: You did not receive. However, it does not mean that the will of God for you has changed.
So I want to give you this word from the Lord once again: āI will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,ā says the Lord. God desires to bring healing into your life! His desire is to restore diseased bodies to become whole bodies. This is God’s will for you!
God’s Will for You is Wholeness
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ā 1 Thessalonians 5:23, KJV
Godās will for you is wholenessāthat you be made whole in every area of your life ā spirit, soul, and body! God wants you to be sound in your body and sound in your mind, for He is the God of Shalom. He is the God of wholeness.
The Book of Isaiah tells us that Godās covenant toward us is a covenant of peace. The word peaceĀ in the original Hebrew language is the word shalomĀ and refers to wholeness, or total well-being.
āFor the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,ā
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
ā Isaiah 54:10
Friend, I want to encourage you with this. Even though you may have had sickness in the past, and even though your body may have changed, the Word of God has not changed! Being chronically sick could mean a number of things. Perhaps we need to get some more accurate information from Godās Word regarding divine healing. Perhaps we have been misinformed or not completely informed about the subject. Or maybe we need some instruction on how to lay hold of that which belongs to us as Godās people. But in any case, the will of God for you has not changed! His covenant of shalom will never be removed. It will NEVER be removed! Hallelujah! This is Godās word to you!
God’s Word Will Deliver You
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
ā Psalm 107:19,20
What happens when you call to the Lord in your trouble and in your distresses? According to this verse, He will save you! When you call to the Lord, He will answer you. But these verses reveal to us HOW he brings deliverance when we call to HimāHe sends His word!
āHe sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.ā
We can see in this verse that there is healing in the Word of God. There is deliverance in the Word. I want to encourage you as you sit there reading this article, to relax, open up your heart, and let this healing word come into you because this word will heal you. This word will deliver you!
Even as you read and receive this message, your body will be strengthened. Faith will come alive in your heart, and divine healing will begin to work in your body. So just relax and receive and let Godās Word go to work for you!
āSo shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.ā
ā Isaiah 55:11
God’s Word is Health to All Your Flesh
My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
ā Proverbs 4:20
The Lord instructs us in this verse to āgive attentionā to HIS Word. To begin with, all He needs from you today is your full attention. Many things may be calling for your attention right now, but if you will begin to give attention to His Word it will bring healing to all your flesh.
Godās Word is health to ALL your flesh. Godās Word is health to ākidneyā flesh. Godās Word is health to āheartā flesh. His Word is health to ābad eyesightā flesh and even āingrown toenailā flesh! Really, anything that is part of your flesh, Godās Word will fix it!
And I am so glad that the burden to restore is not on you or on me, for we are not The Healer. We are merely the recipients and proclaimers of such good news! Our job is to give attention to HIS Word. So never underestimate the power of simply reading an anointed message like this and giving attention to the Word of God. This Word is going into your heart and itās bringing deliverance and healing to your body even now! Why not stop and praise the Lord for that right now?
Ā
āI know you CAN heal me, but Iām not sure if You WILL.ā
And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold,
a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus;
and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying,
āLord, if You are willing, you can make me clean.ā
ā Luke 5:12
In Luke 5, a man full of leprosy approached Jesus. Notice that this man approached Jesus with more than just a need for healing. Before that, he needed a question answered. His question was whether or not the Lord was āwillingā to heal him. This is what the leper said to Jesus: āLord if you are willing, you can make me clean.ā
We can see from this verse that the leper did not have any question about the Lordās ability. He knew that the Lord was able to do it, for he said, āYou CAN make me clean.ā The question in his mind and in his heart was whether it was Godās will for him to be healed.
Having never had leprosy I really cannot identify with the leper, but I would guess that he had experienced a great deal of disgrace because of his condition. Iām sure that his self-confidence and sense of worth had been stripped away. But still, he came to the Lord, and in effect, he was saying, āI know you can heal me, but I donāt know if you will.ā
I want you to look at the words of Jesus in verse 13:
Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, āI am willing; be cleansed.ā
What was Jesusā answer to the leper? He said, āI AM WILLING.ā The leper knew that Jesus could heal him, but he did not know if He would. But the Lordās answer to the leperās question was clear and simple: āI am WILLING.ā
Faith Begins Where the Will of God is Known
You know, most everybody you ask will agree that the Lord can do anything. Isnāt that right? Most all would agree that He is an all-powerful God and that nothing is impossible for Him. But oftentimes a greater, underlying and nagging question remains: āwill the Lord do anything for me? Will He do it for me?ā This is what people donāt know and are unsure about.
People generally know that God CAN do anything. As a preacher, I know I will hear many āamensā whenever I say, āGod can do anythingā or āNothing is impossible with Godā, because people donāt normally struggle with the reality of Godās omnipotence. But when I ask people whether God will do a specific thing Ā for them, they will probably say, āWell, I donāt know about thatā or āI sure do hope so.ā Even churched people, who have learned all the right faith responses, may say, āYes, Amen!ā but you can often detect a slight hesitation in their voice that reveals they really have their āspiritual fingers crossedā hoping that everything will work out right for them. They are really unsure as to what they can personally expect from the Lord and therefore they lack confidence. And herein lies a big problem! And the problem is this:Ā people who are not educated or convinced of Godās will for them personally.
One of the main reasons people do not receive from God is because they have doubts. People do not receive because they have little nagging questions at the back of their minds and at the core of what they really believe. In order to receive anything from God, you must first know His will. You must settle all doubts and all questions concerning Godās will for you in order to approach Him with confidence. This is the beginning place of faithāthe known will of God.
What is so important about faith anyway? Faith is important because it is the means by which you receive what God has promised and already provided for you through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Without faith there is no connection with God and therefore no receiving from God.
And where does faith begin? What is the very initial point of faith? Faith begins where Godās will is KNOWN. In other words, you cannot have faith for something that you are unsure about. That would be merely presumption, guessing, or hoping. This next verse reveals where our confidence to receive comes from:
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him,
that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
ā 1 John 5:14,15
What is the foundation for confidence and receiving from God? Knowing that we are asking āaccording to His will.ā If you donāt know for sure what God wants for you and what He will do for you, you canāt come with the boldness required to receive. Let me give you an illustration of what real confidence looks like.
And so this is how it is with many people trying to receive healing from the Lord. They are really guessing whether God will heal them or not. They are merely hoping to get healed. They are coming to the Father God without any real confidence because they donāt have accurate information from the bible about His will. Without knowledge of Godās will, faith is not present.
Imagine you are attending a seminar where I am the speaker and more than 1000 people are in attendance. At the end of the event, I announce that Iām giving away a free copy of my book to 50 people in the room. Do you think you would have the boldness and confidence to approach me at the end of the seminar and say, āThank you, Brother Joe, for my bookā, and get a copy? You would not! And why is that? Because I said that I will give my book to 50 people and there are obviously more than 50 people in the room. How do you know for sure that you are one of the 50? You DONāT. Therefore, for you to approach me to receive a free book and say, āThank you, Brother Joe. Iām here to receive my bookā would be presumptuous on your part and you would not really be confident.
Now this time suppose I say it differently. āAt the end of the seminar, I will give a free copy of my book to EVERYONE in the room.ā Everyone means ALL, right? Can you now approach me with total confidence and say, āThank you for my book.ā? You surely can! But if I say the book is only for 50 people, you would not know whether or not you are one of the chosen 50.
Some people approach God because they have heard and know about divine healing, but they donāt really know for sure that healing is absolutely 100% Godās will for them. Perhaps they heard a testimony about someone else being healed by the power of God, but because of uncertainty there is no confidence and basis for faith. That is why it is so important to settle the will of God beyond all doubts and beyond all questions once and for all. Once you know the will of God, you can come boldly to the Fatherās throne of grace and say, āThank you for my healing.ā Itās really that simple. But you have to KNOW the will of God.
